Before Applying

Before you apply ask yourself these questions:

  • Are you detail oriented?
  • Do you like to analyze problems and research alternative solutions?
  • Are you pragmatic?
  • Do you love to solve puzzles and get to the root of a problem?
  • Do you like working with people and often turn skeptics into supporters?
  • Do you like to write?
  • Are you patient with others?
  • Do you have a broad range of knowledge, skills and abilities and use them to solve problems?
  • Do you listen well?
  • Can you work with little direct supervision or contact with peers and managers?
  • Can you take an ambiguous situation and put structure to it so you can be productive?

Preparing your resume

  • Reveal your directly relevant experience in a single page
  • Make your point with as few words as possible
  • Only include matching qualifications
  • Use a “Did this.  Made this difference.” style
  • Promote but don’t exaggerate your distinguishing traits
  • You may include other activities and experience you think we should also consider
  • Include contact information – telephone number and e-mail address

If you are asked to come talk with us be prepared: we have a long interview process. You will talk to multiple members of our firm who will assess not only your credentials but “fit” with us.  You must also assess if this is the kind of place in which you can thrive, we’re not for everybody.

Preparing for the interview

  • Understand where you match with us and be prepared to talk about it
  • Be ready to explain your distinguishing traits
  • Be prepared with examples where you made a difference.  Be specific as to outcomes
  • Be direct and candid
  • Bring samples of your writing and presentations
  • Prepare questions for us, to ensure our fit with your career plans
